OPM 411: Pastoral Work (Online)
This class will study the lifestyle, responsibilities, and ethics of the pastor and various approaches for organizing the work of ministry. A study is made of the place and practice of the church’s rituals. This is a seven-week intensive course covering both theology and practical pastoral ministry. (3 Units)
COURSE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Completing this course:
- Students will have developed a theological framework for understanding the work of pastoral ministry.
- Students will be exposed to the array of typical pastoral work and be able to use resources for helping accomplish those tasks.
- Students will better understand and be able to practice the sacraments of holy communion and baptism.
- Students will understand the importance of and develop a plan for self-care in pastoral ministry.
Dr. Gary C. Bailey (PhD Amridge University, MAR Evangelical Seminary, BA Messiah College) is president of BLI where he also teaches Old Testament courses, the Wesleyan Experience, pastoral leadership, and biblical languages. Before becoming president, Dr. Bailey served in pastoral and church ministries for 24 years.
